BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

It’s not the kind of theft of that will make the front page of a newspaper or even lead a news broadcast, but for a single mother, it hurts just same as a big one.

“I worked hard for it,” she said. “It was mine and it wasn't in the best condition, but it was mine.”

The woman lives in a neighborhood between Highland and Burbank off of Starring Lane and says she got distracted earlier in the day and left her lawn mower sitting out in front of her garage.

It didn’t take long for a neighborhood thief to happen by and steal. The woman has surveillance cameras around her garage and captured a black man in a blue shirt and blue jeans slowly walk up and roll the lawn mower to his truck.

“It upsets me even more because of the way he did it,” the homeowner said. “And he was so comfortable and he took his time and that lets me know it wasn't his first time doing something like that.”
