BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Thibodaux Police announced the arrest of a hit-and-run suspect who was also caught with drugs.

John Cooks, 28, was arrested after he allegedly struck a car in a hit-and-run on March 16 just before 10 p.m.

Authorities were able to get a description of the suspect's vehicle and pulled him over a short time later. Through further investigation, authorities found marijuana and Xanax that Police believed was packaged for distribution.

Cooks was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $52,000 bond. He faces Possession with Intent to Distribute Xanax, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Hit-&-Run, and Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License charges.
