BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said a burglary suspect is in police custody after a standoff Tuesday morning.

The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested Alvin Anderson, 25, on a warrant for simple burglary.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely Jr. with BRPD said officers went looking for Anderson around 7:45 a.m. He added the suspect slammed the door and locked it when police approached the home on North 16th Street.

According to McKneely, there was a woman inside, but she walked out a short time later. He stated a negotiator was able to talk Anderson into surrendering peacefully.

He will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
