BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU freshman Ben Simmons will forgo his remaining college eligibility and enter the 2016 NBA Draft
"We are excited about this opportunity for Ben and his family," head coach Johnny Jones said. "We certainly have enjoyed the time that we were able to spend with him here at LSU. He was a joy to coach and to be around on and off the floor."
Simmons averaged 19.2 points per game this year, grabbing 11.8 rebounds and dishing out 4.8 assists per contest.
Simmons told ESPN on Sunday,"I'm making it official."
LSU (19-14) finished the season with a blowout loss to Texas A&M, 71-38, and turned down an opportunity to play in the NIT.
The LSU star is expected by many NBA experts to be the first pick of the draft.
