BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a crash that left a bicyclist dead Monday morning.
The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Plank Road.
According to police, 80-year-old Elwyn Pate was riding his bicycle northbound in the southbound lanes of Plank Road when he was hit by an 18-wheeler turning onto Plank Rd. from Byron Avenue.
Pate was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police don't expect any charges to be filed against the driver of the 18-wheeler.
The crash remains under investigation.
