BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials announced Thursday morning that Ascension Parish and two other have been added to the list of parishes receiving federal disaster assistance.
On Wednesday, Gov. John Bel Edwards asked that the federal disaster declaration for the state of Louisiana be amended to add Allen, Ascension and Calcasieu parishes.
The Ascension Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is still collecting damage reports. If you live in the parish and your home was flooded, you can email them at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (225) 621-8360.
According to the governor's office, the water from the recent floods damaged more than 900 homes in all three parishes.
There were already 23 parishes approved to receive federal assistance: Bossier, Claiborne, Grant, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Webster, Beauregard Bienville, Caddo, Caldwell, DeSoto, LaSalle, Livingston, Madison, Natchitoches, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Union, Vernon, Washington, West Carroll, and Winn.
If you do not have insurance to cover your disaster related damages, an inspection is required to process your application.
