LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (WAFB) - U.S. Marshals arrested a woman wanted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office in connected to an armed robbery that occurred in October 2015.
Janel Zachary, 19, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Las Vegas Tuesday morning.
According to her arrest warrant, Zachary is charged with five counts of attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
EBRSO officials said two suspects allegedly robbed a man of his cell phone and attempted to rob four others in the 8000 block of Governor Drive on October 26, 2015.
According to EBRSO, one of the suspects allegedly hit one of the victims with a gun and fired several shots in the victim's direction.
The suspects fled in a truck that was later found to be stolen. The car was recovered near the scene of the crime shortly after the incident. Authorities said evidence in the truck points to Zachary as one of the suspects.
"This is yet another example of how our joint agency efforts are apprehending fugitives who think they can hide in the valley," said District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye.
Zachary was booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending her extradition back to Louisiana.
