BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The car sharing service, Zipcar, launched at five locations around the LSU campus Tuesday morning.
"The idea here is to alleviate congestion on campus and also to offer transportation options for out-of-state and international students" said Tedera Lipsey, Zipcar marketing manager.
Zipcar members can reserve vehicles by the hour or by the day and Zipcar covers the price of gas and insurance. Memberships can be as low as $7 a month/$70 a year and reservation rates fall anywhere between $8 and $10 per hour.
"You have to be 18 and have had a license for at least a year in order to be a member. We pull your driving record to make sure there's no major violations and if you're approved, then you're able to start zipping," Lipsey added.
