Pair accused of stealing identities now face possession of stolen things charges

MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) - Two men from out of state accused of stealing identities now face additional charges.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office reported Gatchary Forth, 28, of New Jersey, and Albert Mujaj, 36, of New York, were booked Monday on charges of illegal possession of stolen things.

Detectives said they learned the pair allegedly used fake driver's licenses to buy cell phones.

The pair was originally arrested on March 9 on nine counts of identity theft and nine counts of possession of fraudulent documents following a traffic stop.

According to SMPSO, a search of the car turned up nine fake driver's licenses from different states and eight fake insurance cards.

Deputies also reported finding receipts with names that matched those on the fake driver's licenses and more than $700 in cash believed to have been collected from using the fake identifications.

Both men remain in the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bond was set.
