eBay listing for 2011 SEC Championship ring taken down

SHREVEPORT, LA (WAFB) - UPDATE: An eBay auction selling a 2011 SEC Championship ring belonging to former LSU Tiger Mo Claiborne has been taken down.

In a statement made to media outlets, Claiborne says he was not aware that his ring was on eBay until he saw a post about it on social media. "I love LSU and treasure all of my LSU possessions," said Claiborne. "I would never sell any of my LSU memorabilia as the time I spent on the LSU campus are some of my most special memories. The ring was taken from me without my knowledge and I've taken the necessary steps to get it back. I truly apologize to all LSU fans, teammates, coaches and supporters for this unfortunate situation. I am forever an LSU Tiger."

The original story is below.

A one-of-a-kind piece of LSU Football history is up for auction.

Former LSU Tiger and current Dallas Cowboy Mo Claiborne’s 2011 SEC Championship ring is on eBay for the low, low “Buy now” price of $100,000.

The Tigers defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 42-10 with an assist from Claiborne’s pick-six in the championship game.

Claiborne was named an All-American and SEC Defensive Player of the Year for 2011. He was the 6th overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft and recently re-signed with the Cowboys on a one-year, $3 million deal.

For those wondering, shipping is free, and the eBay auction ends April 9.
