BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials with the Tangipahoa Parish School system announced that their public schools will be closed Monday.
"All of our Tangipahoa Parish public schools are safe and sustained no significant water damage due to the flooding of the past couple of days," says Tangipahoa Parish School System leaders in a press release. "However, many of our employees and students suffered damages to their homes and/or property and would be unable to report to work and school tomorrow. In addition to this, there are still numerous roads and bridges that remain closed at this time as well as a number of bridges that have not been inspected after the high water. Therefore, after consulting with parish and state officials and in order to err on the side of caution, the decision has been made to close school tomorrow, Monday, March 14, 2016."
Despite school closures tomorrow, all other Tangipahoa Parish School System offices will be open. The following employees should report to work on Monday:
- All custodians and Maintenance Department employees
- All School Food Service Managers and Production Managers
- All other 12-month staff
