French Settlement residents watch rising waters

FRENCH SETTLEMENT, LA (WAFB) -

Lower Livingston Parish is experiencing problems due to all of the rain that has fallen and continues to fall.

There is high water on River Bend Road in French Settlement. Fortunately, there have been no reports of anyone needing help.

Some residents said they are actually accustomed to high water when it rains as much as it has.

"Sometimes, you live on the bayou; sometimes, you live in the bayou," one man said.

Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks said two people had to be rescued south of Satsuma. He added those two people are okay.

Ricks also said the parish has handed out about 30,000 sandbags to help combat potential flooding problems.
