La. National Guard rescues humans, animals as North Louisiana faces flooding

BOSSIER CITY, LA (WAFB) -

A Louisiana National Guard team in North Louisiana saved more than 150 people and 80 animals amidst severe flooding on Thursday.

The Guard, directed by Governor John Bel Edwards, supported local authorities in Bossier, Webster, and Caddo parishes in response to significant flooding in Northwest Louisiana. More than 150 people along with 70 dogs, 16 chickens, and a guinea pig were rescued after the Guard was dispatched to the flooded areas.

Crews are calling it a rewarding experience and an example of the reason why they joined the National Guard.
