GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - According to the Attorney General Cyber Crime Unit and the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 35-year-old Kristopher Johnson on Tuesday and charged with 11 counts of pornography involving juveniles.
Johnson, who has been employed with the Gonzales Fire Department since 2001, was currently serving as a District Fire Chief.
"Johnson has been placed on administrative leave with pay as is dictated in the Firefighter Bill of Rights through State Police and Civil Service law," said Gonzales Fire Chief Tracey Normand. "We have also asked the City of Gonzales Police Department to handle our internal investigation."
Officials say they searched Johnson's home and found evidence of pornography.
Johnson is currently in the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond has been set at $600,000.
"All of us at the City of Gonzales Fire Department are saddened to learn of this arrest, but are diligent in ensuring that all agencies involved receive the full support of this department," said Normand.
