NEW ORLEANS (WAFB) - The New Orleans Saints have released Brandon Browner, according to ESPN NFL analyst Adam Schefter.
Browner will be designated a post June 1 release by the Saints, clearing up $2.25 million after June 1.
The defensive back had 76 tackles and one interception in 2015 with the Saints, but struggled throughout the season on defense, finishing with 22 penalties, the most by any player in NFL history.
The penalties included nine defensive holdings, three pass interference penalties, three unnecessary roughness calls and three face mask penalties. He was also flagged one time each for offsides, illegal block above the waist and illegal contact.
Browner also drew a flag for illegal use of hands, but that penalty was declined.
