BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The former secretary of Louisiana's Department of Children and Family Services has been chosen as the leader of the new health district in the Capital City.
Suzy Sonnier was named as the first executive director of the Baton Rouge Health District. Before being the DCFS secretary, she worked at the Louisiana Workforce Commission as the chief operations officer.
Sonnier was chosen out of a regional search by members of the new district.
According to a release, Sonnier will be in charge of implementing a strategic plan for the district which covers the area between Bluebonnet, Perkins Road, Essen Lane and I-10 and includes several of the areas major healthcare institutions.
