EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police is investigating a crash that killed one person and left two others injured Friday evening.
Troopers say 32-year-old Michael Henderson, of Baker, died in the four-vehicle crash that happened on Scotlandville Avenue (LA 19) north of Thomas Road around 5 p.m. Friday.
According to LSP, Henderson was driving fast in a 2003 Ford Expedition, heading south on Scotlandville Avenue. He then struck the back of a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta, which was being driven by 26-year-old Darius Washington, causing Henderson to cross the center line into oncoming traffic.
Henderson then drove southbound in the northbound lanes, sideswiping the driver's side of 37-year-old Bertha Brown's 2013 Infiniti G37 and eventually colliding head-on with a 2015 International box truck driven by 43-year-old Leonard Payne Jr.
Henderson, who was unrestrained, was ejected from his vehicle from the impact and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office.
Brown and Payne were taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after sustaining minor to moderate injuries.
Troopers do not suspect impairment to be a factor in the crash, but did take a toxicology sample from all the drivers for analysis.
