BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 1.39-acre site on Coursey Boulevard is set to be the home of a new indoor rock climbing gym.
The Baton Rouge Business Report says the land, to be developed into UpTown Climbing, is planned to have a 35-foot ceiling along with more than 10,000 square feet of climbing surface as well as an exercise area and multi-purpose yoga room.
The land is a part of the Remington College property, which is across from the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court annex building.
Rock climbing gyms have been successful in other parts of the country, but this is a relatively new concept for the Baton Rouge area. The Business Report says more and more fitness facilities popping up in Baton Rouge means the area would tend to support a gym like this.
