Detectives arrest mother on negligent homicide charge after baby's death

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A mother was arrested after her newborn child was found dead.

According to a warrant, Jerasha Bowman, 36, smoked and used cocaine while pregnant.

Her daughter reportedly tested positive for cocaine on August 31.

The baby died from various medical complications in January.

Bowman was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of negligent homicide.

Her bond was set at $15,000.
