BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It has been 162 days since Devon Gales first arrived in Athens, GA for the football game in Georgia. To celebrate his homecoming, Southern University has planned festivities for Saturday, March 5.
Gales has spent the past four months undergoing rigorous rehabilitation in Atlanta. He was nearly paralyzed from an injury during the September 26, 2015 game.
He will arrive at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport at 11 a.m. and he will be greeted by Southern University and athletic officials. He will then go to the A.W. Mumford Field house where he will reunite with his teammates.
Gales will then be honored during an on-court presentation after the women's basketball team salutes it 2016 senior class following the Prairie View A&M basketball game in the F.G. Clark Activity Center. The Devon Gales salute will be around 4:05 p.m.
The women's game has been changed to tipoff at 2 p.m. The men's game begins at 5 p.m.
There will be a meet and greet session for fans to welcome Devon back, which will begin at approximately 7:10 p.m.
