ST. AMANT, LA (WAFB) -

A 32-year-old woman was arrested for her fourth DWI after a test showed her BAC was more than four times the legal limit, according to Major Ward Webb of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday night, February 29, deputies were called to a home in the 47000 block of Highway 22 in St. Amant, in Countryview Trailer Park about a domestic disturbance.

When deputies arrived, 32-year-old Katherine Summerfield left the home in her vehicle with her infant child unrestrained, according to documents from the sheriff's office. Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and Summerfield admitted to consuming alcohol.

She was taken to the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with fourth offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated and child passenger restraint system. Her child was released to a next of kin.

Two days prior, on Saturday, February 27, deputies responded to the same residence in Countryview Trailer Park in reference to a welfare concern.  Deputies arrived and found Summerfield asleep in her vehicle. The vehicle was running and in gear.  Before the deputies’ got there, Summerfield’s child was removed from the vehicle by a concerned neighbor. Summerfield's BAC was more than four times the legal limit on that day, according to deputies. She was taken to the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with child endangerment.

Summerfield was also arrested on February 1 by Louisiana State Police where she was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and on July 3, 2015 where she was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with child endangerment, hit and run driving, careless operation, and traffic-control signals by the APSO.

This case is still under investigation and more charges may be pending.

Summerfield is currently being held without bond pending a bond hearing next Monday.
