Punch Bowl Cake - WAFB 9 News Baton Rouge, Louisiana News, Weather, Sports

Punch Bowl Cake

  • Sara Lee Pound Cake (family size)
  • Cool Whip topping (large)
  • Instant vanilla pudding (2 large packages)
  • Chopped pecans (about ½ pound)
  • Sliced fresh strawberries (3 pints)**reserve several large pretty ones for ending garnish**
  • Strawberry glaze (2 jars/packages)

Cut pound cake into squares about 1 inch by 1 inch. Prepare pudding according to package directions.

Layer as follows: Pound cake, Pudding
          Pecans
          Strawberry glaze
          Strawberries
          Cool whip

My punch bowl will hold two sets of layers. You’ll have to experiment with your container to see what it will hold. A clear glass container makes for a prettier presentation. The main thing is to end with the cool whip on top.

Garnish with several large whole strawberries.

(Note from GG’s wife: You can make this fairly low-cal and low-fat by buying fat-free Cool Whip, sugar free pudding and mixing it with skim milk. I’ve done it and GG didn’t know the difference!)
