CLINTON, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Mississippi man early Saturday morning.
State Police say they crash happened just before 5 a.m. at the intersection of LA 432 and LA 67 in East Feliciana Parish.
According to State Police, 19-year-old Cody Haygood of Liberty, Mississippi was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram westbound on LA 432 when he failed to stop at the intersection at LA 67. Haygood's vehicle then hit an incline in the roadway causing him to go airborne and hit a tree on the driver's side of the vehicle.
Although Haygood was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner's Office.
It is currently unknown if impairment is a contributing factor to the crash but a toxicology sample was taken from Haygood and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
