BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An East Baton Rouge Parish jury has found a man guilty in connection to a 2011 deadly shooting.
Corderrius Mitchell, 24, of Baton Rouge, was found guilty of principal to first-degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer and reckless operation charges in the shooting death of 26-year-old Fausto Ortiz-Herrera, Baton Rouge.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Ortiz-Herrera was shot and killed on Tracy Avenue on Dec. 16, 2011. Deputies said it happened during a possible robbery.
Witnesses said three men may have tried to rob Herrera and shot him when he tried to run away.
Reshaud Johnson, 32, is also charged with principal to first-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting. Detectives said DNA linked him to the shooting.
The remaining defendants are scheduled for status in April and trial July 18th
