BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU President F. King Alexander sent a message Friday morning to provide an update on the current budget situation.
He stated as it currently stands, all LSU campuses still face a $33 million cut this semester, with $17 million of that to the flagship campus.
He noted the House approving a one-cent sales tax that is expected to generate about $220 million in revenue this year.
Alexander stated he believes the huge rally by students on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol on Wednesday effected legislators and their decisions on higher education.
He also encouraged everyone to continue promoting the significant role LSU plays in the state's future success.
