Sorrento Lions Club to hold blood drive for storm victims Saturday

SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) -

The Sorrento Lions Club will host a blood drive Saturday to honor the victims of Tuesday’s deadly storms.

The club will honor the victims of Assumption and St. James Parish tornadoes.

The blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Sorrento Community Center.

    Meteorologists say 12 tornadoes touched down in Louisiana on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. The National Weather Service says this was the worst outbreak for our area since June 7-8, 1989. In that two-day period, 19 tornadoes hit Louisiana. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew brought 14 tornadoes to Louisiana.
