St. James Parish workers observe moment of silence

CONVENT, LA (WAFB) -

Employees with the St. James Parish Government gathered to observe a moment of silence Friday morning for the victims of Tuesday’s storms.

Employee joined St. James Parish President Timmy Roussel, Sheriff Willy Martin and Assessor Glenn Waguespack in the council chambers at 9 a.m. for a prayer and a moment of silence. 

The parish has created a webpage with information about relief and recovery efforts.

    Meteorologists say 12 tornadoes touched down in Louisiana on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. The National Weather Service says this was the worst outbreak for our area since June 7-8, 1989. In that two-day period, 19 tornadoes hit Louisiana. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew brought 14 tornadoes to Louisiana.
