BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department battled multiple fires on Thursday.
The BRFD received a call about a duplex fire in the 12300 block of Robbie Street at about 2 a.m. Firefighters were able to knock the fire down in under 20 minutes, but not before almost $30,000 in damage was done.
Investigators say they found a woman sleeping in a back bedroom during the incident. Firefighters brought the woman out of the house and gave her oxygen before she was transported to the hospital.
Firefighters also responded to a vacant house fire in the 1300 block of Oleander Street. Fire officials say they arrived at the scene to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in just under 20 minutes. The house was considered a total loss.
After the fire, investigators were able to determine the cause of the fire as arson. Anyone with information in regards to this arson are urged to call investigators at 225-354-1419.
