Donations may be dropped off between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.


Donations including toiletries, yard equipment, water and tarps are being accepted at the St. John Community Center, 2900 Hwy 51 in LaPlace. Monetary donations can be made to St. John United Way, fund "SJUWTORNADO."

Groups or individuals over the age of 18 who are interested in volunteering with debris removal for the tornado victims can call the volunteer hotline at 1.256.503.1024 or register online at  Affected residents can also call this number for assistance.

Walkthrough/Giveaway for tornado victims

Household items, clothing, school supplies, and other goods can be donated and dropped off at the church building on Wednesday March 2nd from 6-8 p.m., and on Sunday March 6th from 12-1 p.m.

Red Cross and other agencies/groups will also be mobile feeding in damaged areas.

St. James Parish Government has created a webpage to provide a centralized source for information concerning relief efforts following Tuesday's severe weather. The webpage is The website will be updated throughout the day.

First Baptist Church of Gramercy is accepting donations to distribute to families in need. The church is located at 1046 North Airline Avenue, Gramercy, LA 70052.

Cleanup Volunteers

Anyone willing to assist with the cleanup of debris is asked to report to the Romeville Senior Center located at 8188 Romeville Street in Convent, LA 70723. From there, volunteers will receive an assigned area to report to begin cleanup. This is being done to effectively distribute volunteer efforts across the parish.

Tree Limb & Debris Pick-Up

To have tree limbs and/or debris picked up from your address, please call (225) 562-2286 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. All tree limbs and debris must be placed at the end of the property near the street for collection. Due to the large amount of tree limbs and debris located throughout the parish, please allow up to five business days for collection.

Road Closures

La. Hwy. 44 is closed to traffic until further notice between Water Tower St. to Ester St. in Convent, LA.

Power Restoration

Entergy estimates that power will be fully restored in St. James Parish by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. Customers with damaged meters may take longer to have power restored.


All St. James Parish public schools have returned to normal operations.

Emergency Notifications

Residents can sign up to have notifications from St. James Parish Government sent to their home phone, mobile device and/or email by visiting the homepage of the Parish's website at and clicking the link under the "Emergency Info" section.

Assumption Parish - Paincourtville, LA

Donations of all kinds are being taken at Community Worship Center at Spur 70. They are in need of kitchen items, cleaning supplies, bath towels, baby items. To obtain donated items, ID must be shown showing residence as affected area.

The precautionary boil water order is still in effect. The Waterworks is awaiting sample results today to determine whether it can be lifted or not.
