BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

During the investigation into the accidental shooting death of a 16-year-old, Baton Rouge Police Detectives discovered the gun used in the shooting was stolen.

The suspect, a 16-year-old male, was re-booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on charges of negligent homicide and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Police are still investigating where the gun came from.

Darneisha Williams, 16, died Feb. 20 in the hospital. She was shot in the head on Feb. 18, 2016 around 5 p.m. at her home.

Detectives say the 16-year-old male is a relative of Darneisha's. Police reports say the 16-year-old male was playing with the gun when the shooting happened.

The male teen was originally booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on charges of negligent injuring and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
