BRFD battle fire at vacant storage building on East Brookstown Dr.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Baton Rouge Fire Department is investigating a fire at a vacant storage building over night.

Firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant building in the 3800 block of East Brookstown Drive just before 11 p.m. Saturday.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found fire coming from an old storage unit behind the now closed Children's Charter Middle School.

According to officials, it took firefighters some time to get water to the fire because fire plugs on the property were not functioning. By the time firefighters were able to get water to the fire, the building was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters managed to get the fire under control just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

The building is considered a complete loss.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire but believe that there may be a human factor involved due to the fact that the building had no power.

Anyone with any information about the fire is asked to call the Fire Investigators at 225-354-1419.
