BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The vote on the proposed Baton Rouge Health District was deferred after emotions ran high at Wednesday's East Baton Rouge Metro Council Meeting.
For a second straight day, a letter from the NAACP was a catalyst for discord. They urged the council to vote against the naming of the South Baton Rouge health district.
The beef over the health district, where hospitals already exist, is that North Baton Rouge lacks adequate healthcare.
Councilwoman Tara Wicker was the council member who moved to table the decision.
