Sheriff: 5 arrested during traffic stop after suspected drug deal

BERTRANDVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Narcotics agents with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office stopped two vehicles after witnessing what they say was a drug transaction on Tuesday around 2 p.m.

Agents say the first vehicle, a blue Caprice, was stopped by deputies when it turned down Jones Street in Bertrandville.  The driver got out of the vehicle while it was still rolling and ran, leaving two passengers in the car.  He was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Quan Lewis, 20, of Napoleonville, Michael Lewis, 21, of Belle Rose, and Myron Lewis, 19, of Belle Rose were arrested at the scene.

Deputies learned that both Quan Lewis and Michael Lewis both had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a .40 caliber Glock next to a large bag that contained more than a dozen individually wrapped plastic baggies of marijuana and three medium sized baggies containing marijuana.  A .357 revolver was also located in the back of the car.

The second vehicle, a black Chevy Trailblazer, was stopped for a traffic violation. A narcotics K-9 conducted an open air sniff of the exterior.  The K-9 alerted to the possible presence of narcotics.

During the search of the vehicle, deputies found a syringe and two silver spoons with suspected heroin residue.

Matthew Aucoin, 21, of Napoleonville and Scott Leonard, 22, of Pierre Part were arrested.

Quan Lewis was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on February 16th, 2016 for assault by drive-by shooting, and flight from an officer.  His bond has not been set at this time and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.

Michael Lewis was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on February 16th, 2016 for domestic abuse battery, simple cattery, simple criminal damage to property, and obstruction of justice.  His bond has not been set at this and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.

Myron Lewis was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on February 16th, 2016 for possession with intent to distribute Marijuana.  His bond has not been set at this time and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.

Matthew Aucoin was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on February 16th, 2016 for possession of Schedule I CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.  His bond has not been set at this time and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.

Scott Leonard was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on February 16th, 2016 for driving while suspended, careless operations, possession of Schedule I CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia and open container in vehicle.  His bond has not been set at this time and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.
