BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Fire investigators said the cause of an early morning fire that destroyed one home and damaged another is arson.

The fire at a vacant home in the 2200 block of Thomas H. Delpit Drive near Harding Boulevard started just after 2 a.m. Monday.

Officials said before firefighters could get it under control, it started to burn the house next door. The vacant house is a total loss, according to BRFD, while the house next door only sustained heavy smoke damage.

Red Cross was called out to help three people living in the second house.
