ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Representatives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office say eight people were arrested after a four-month long drug investigation.

In November 2015, the APSO says their narcotics division began an investigation into Christopher Zeringue, 27, after getting information that he was distributing crystal meth in Ascension Parish.

Authorities say they saw a vehicle leave Zeringue's home in Gonzales on February 10 and saw the driver throw a plastic bag, later learned to contain crystal meth, out of the window. The driver, Kendra Fung, was pulled over and arrested for possession of methamphetamine and illegal possession of prescription drugs.

Afterwards, sheriff's officers executed a search warrant at Zeringue's home and found an ounce of methamphetamine and over $4,000 in cash. Zeringue's children were in the home at the time. They were released to other family members and Zeringue was arrested and arrested on a number of drug charges.

On February 11, authorities say they were able to arrest Zeringue's supplier, Danny Mouton, during a sting where authorities also arrested Timothy Mercer and Ronald McKinney.

As a result of Mouton's arrest, the APSO says they were able to set up a meeting with another suspected methamphetamine seller. They were able to arrest Rene Eleazer Villa as he arrived at the meeting, as well as his vehicle passenger, Francisco Felix Rodriguez. Detectives found and confiscated 14 ounces of meth in Villa's car.

APSO narcotics detectives continued the investigation and served warrants that led to the arrest of Adolfo Cruz for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The street value of the drugs seized is about $11,900.

In total, APSO authorities say they seized $16,304 in cash, and one pound ten ounces of methamphetamine with a value of about $31,200.
