BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Valentine's Day flowers are big business, but not as big as people would expect this year.
"We're pleased with the business that we've done. We've done more than we've expected," said Laura Aswell, manager at Pugh's Florist. "It's not as good as last year, but we weren't counting on it as being so."
Aswell said sales are down this year compared to past years because the holiday falls on a Sunday.
In fact, they will likely get most of their business Friday, two days ahead of the real Valentine's Day.
Aswell said that is because more couples tend to stay home on the weekend.
