LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - King Gabriel's Parade rolled through Lafayette on what turned out to be a crisp Fat Tuesday morning.
It was first of two parades in Lafayette, with others spread throughout Acadiana.
A group of sisters used the parade to dress up as retired cheerleaders.
"Well because were all old," one of them said from behind the parade barricade. "You can act crazy and I don't have to have a drink in your body. It's a good time everyone's enjoying just the atmosphere. You don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy Mardi Gras - just be with your family and be with your friends."
"Because it's Mardi Gras! Good times, good food, good friends, kids too! Such a good time. We started dressing up years ago and it makes for a good time. It makes it more giddy!" another one added.
