BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said a suspected drug dealer was arrested after allegedly selling heroin to undercover deputies.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Jessie Williams III, 42, of Baton Rouge, was taken into custody after a traffic stop Monday.
Investigators said a deputy bought heroin from Williams on February 3 and then obtained a warrant to search his home. They added surveillance was set up outside his home five days later and shortly after he left in a vehicle with a woman driving, the pair was pulled over.
Deputies said about a gram of heroin was found on Williams and just under $2,100 in cash was found inside the vehicle. They added they later learned $100 of that was used in an undercover heroin buy from Williams.
EBRSO reported a search of the home turned up 12 grams of heroin, 10.5 grams of marijuana, three Lortab pills, a .45 caliber handgun and a digital scale.
Williams was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of distribution/manufacturing Schedule I drug (3 counts), possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of a firearm with drugs, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $29,500.
