Bond set for Napoleonville vehicular homicide suspect

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Bond is set for a man who allegedly drove his vehicle off an EBR road, killing his passenger.

Sean Hopkins, 33, faces vehicular homicide, reckless operation and driving under suspension charges after State Police say he veered his vehicle off of LA 30 west of LA 327. The vehicle struck a guardrail and came to a stop in a tree line.

Hopkins was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, 32-year-old Christopher Holeman, who also was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office.

Authorities suspect impairment to be a factor in the crash.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on a $27,000 bond.
