PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Department has arrested two men in connection with a home invasion on January 13.
Deputies say the home invasion happened just after 7:30 a.m. on Old Perkins Place Avenue in Prairieville.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the victim told deputies that she was leaving for work when two men wearing bandanas and armed with handguns met her outside of her home and forced her back inside.
While inside the home, the victim was struck in the face and forced to the floor while the suspects searched the home. It was reported that the suspects stole an undisclosed amount of drugs and and cash from a safe located in the home.
Deputies say that their investigation revealed that the home was specifically targeted by the suspects because one of the suspects, 18-year-old Daryl Mitchell Jr., knew the location and contents in the safe through his close relationship with the victim's daughter.
According to deputies, Mitchell and a second suspect, 18-year-old Deiondre Brock, were arrested Friday.
Deputies say that Brick confessed to participating in the burglary during questioning.
The Sheriff's Office says that they are still searching for a third suspect in the case.
