GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Police said I-10 East was shut down for about seven hours and one person was taken to the hospital after an 18-wheeler overturned early Friday morning.

The Gonzales Police Department reported it happened on I-10 East past LA 30 near Gonzales around 5 a.m. I-10 East was closed between LA 30 and LA 44. for most of the morning. The left lane reopened around 9:45 a.m. The right lane reopened around noon.

Investigators said the big rig dumped its cargo all over the interstate and leaked diesel fuel.

They added one person was hospitalized with minor injuries. The driver’s name was not released.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
