BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Governor John Bel Edwards addressed a report about the lack of workplace protection for LGBT workers Wednesday.
"I believe we ought to be an inclusive place that doesn't discriminate," said Edwards. "While we also respect religious freedom. And I know that there's a proper balance to it. There's a sweet spot."
The report from the Human Rights Campaign said Louisiana is one of 30 states that lack specific protections for gay-transgender employees.
The HRC scorecard does show what the number of LGBT protection bills introduced and passed by lawmakers has increased in recent years.
