BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Part of the joy of being a college student is having the ability to misbehave a bit and chalk it up to youthful indiscretion. Saturday, youthful indiscretion made the short leap to national embarrassment when LSU students engaged in a vulgar chant while their basketball team played the top ranked team in the country on ESPN.
LSU officials acknowledged this week that the students’ actions were in fact embarrassing. The students who made all the noise directed their vulgarity at Oklahoma’s best player, and he responded as you would expect him to, with a superior athletic performance that carried his team to victory.
Perhaps these students should sign up for a psychology course next semester. Most troubling was the fact that the students threw ice and other objects at the Oklahoma players when the game ended. It goes without saying that it’s the job of the University administration to make sure that "Love Purple, Live Gold" is more than just a marketing slogan.
That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to email@example.com.
