Louisiana State Police, BRPD search for driver after high-speed chase

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police and the Baton Rouge Police Department are on the hunt for the driver of a red pickup truck after he led troopers on a high-speed chase in Baton Rouge.

Law enforcement is searching an area around Brightside Drive near River Road and Farr Park, which is south of LSU.

Troopers say they initiated a traffic stop around 4:30 p.m. Monday on Bluebonnet Drive north of Burbank after the driver went 75 mph in a 55 mph zone, heading southbound.

According to LSP, the driver refused to stop and continued driving until he was near Farr Park, where he abandoned the red truck and fled on foot. Officials say the red truck is was stolen and was last seen on Brightside.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man with curly hair, wearing a gray shirt, blue pants and a black backpack.
