BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police arrested a man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend in the chin early Sunday morning.
According to police, they received a call just after 1:30 a.m. about a woman who had been assaulted in the 4600 block of Sycamore Drive.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim, 39-year-old Michelle Morris bleeding from the face with a puncture wound to the chin.
Police say when they spoke with the victim about what happened, she told them she and a male were at her home when her ex-boyfriend, 53-year-old Dave Carter Jr., arrived. Morris and Carter began arguing about her current relationship. The argument turned physical when Carter grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen, pushed Morris on the couch and swung the knife in an upward motion near her throat hitting her in the chin.
Morris says when she called the police, that is when Carter fled the scene on foot.
According to police, Carter was located walking on Beech Street with the bloody steak knife in the right pocket of his pants.
Carter was taken back to the scene where Morris identified him as the attacker.
Carter was arrested and transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been booked with attempted 2nd degree murder.
