BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The health care enrollment period is looming, and those who are not insured before the deadline could face a tax penalty.
www.healthcare.gov's open enrollment period began in November, and it ends Sunday, January 30, and if someone misses the deadline, they could be stuck with the full cost of medical bill as well as a harsh tax penalty. It is a fate that doctors are trying to warn people about.
More than 200,000 Louisiana residents have signed up for health care coverage as the deadline looms.
People who miss the enrollment period will have to wait until the next enrollment period begins.
