BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - McKinley High School principal Herman Brister held a meeting today with members of the school's basketball team, parents and alumni about the recent suspensions of the team's Head Coach and Assistant Coach and the status of the program.
Last week, Head Coach Harold Boudreaux and Assistant Coach Raeshawn Williams were sidelined for the rest of the season after a School Board investigation into an incident that happened at the school.
Many parents and alumni are upset about the suspensions.
"I feel like we should have at least had the opportunity to say the way we felt or given something to be said or whatever, so I was a bit surprised when he was suspended," says Shena Coleman, mother of one of the McKinley High basketball players. "However, I'm looking forward to the fact that it's only for the rest of this season and next year we'll be back in tact."
"We have a big game tonight against East Ascension in Gonzales, we have a big game tomorrow against McDonogh 35," says Brister. "The boys need to be focused on their school and basketball and that's it."
School Board Officials have yet to comment on what happened that led to their investigation.
