Baton Rouge's got the first look at a public transportation project that could be running from LSU to Downtown within five years.
The audience got to look at plans for a modern tram system that would change the face of the city from Downtown Baton Rouge to LSU, as well as places in between like the Old South Baton Rouge neighborhood and Nicholson Drive corridor.
Mayor Kip Holden and project managers showed three route options, costs, and possibilities of the proposed three-mile line.
"When you want to reach places like the State Capitol Complex, the Water Campus, the Downtown attractions, or Tiger Stadium, you will have a new option in the not-so-distant future," said Mayor Holden.
Baton Rouge citizens could be using the new transportation by 2021 because of federal money to be gained if the project is approved.
