LSU's Honor College has a brand new, renovated home.
University leaders call the renovated French House a chance to make the institution more competitive.
LSU President F. King Alexander said the new building will help LSU encourage the best students from around the country to come to Louisiana, as well as keep the best from Louisiana in honors programs.
"They can all study together here in the heart of campus," said Alexander.
School leaders cut the ribbon on the facility Thursday afternoon.
The historic French House is outfitted with new modern classrooms and student lounges.
The $5 million project was paid for with capital outlay funds.
However, this good news comes in the middle of a bad time for the university, which is facing possible budget cuts.
