BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - With tax season beginning, free tax preparations are being offered on Southern University's campus starting Saturday.
IRS-approved tax preparers will be on hand to prepare and file free income tax returns starting Saturday, January 30 at the Southern University Law Center.
The free service will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the SULC Atrium, A.A. Lenoir Hall, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays until April 2.
Christopher Brault, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) student coordinator, said the only Saturdays the site will be closed are February 6 for Mardi Gras weekend and March 26 for Easter weekend.
All returns will be filed electronically, and eligible participants who chose direct deposit could receive a refund in 7 to 10 days.
